About Me

My name is Srdjan Markovic (just call me Serj) and I'm from Vienna. I was born in Pozarevac (Serbia) in 1990 and grow up there until I moved to Vienna when I was 14. My nicks are srdj_mark or glueckself.

Things started to get interesting when I got my second computer in 2002, previously used by my father. It was a Pentium III with 600MHz, 256MB SDRAM, ~40GB HDD (hey - my N900 has almost the same specs :D). My father installed a Windows ME and it annoyed me so much that I tried Knoppix. Suddenly, my Computer had working sound :D Since then I've started using GNU/Linux, first (open)SuSE until I found Arch. My distribution of choice for servers (including mine), physical and virtual, is Debian. Software I'm using: KDE (SC)+Compiz, vim, yakuake, firefox(+vimperator+noscript+abp+ghostery), vlc, screen, wine, ...

At the same time (-> about 2002-2003) I've discovered "rock" music. I'm using quotation marks because I'd like to cover lots of genres with one name - different styles of punk, metal, rock etc - and rock as their common ancestor suits best IMHO. Started with three songs (Avril Lavigne - Sk8ter Boy, Blink 182 - All The Small Things and Wir Sind Helden - Guten Tag), I've discovered lots of bands and soon started to going to their concerts. Some time after I got "introduced" to Ska. Since then, well, I didn't change my music taste lot any more :) The best gigs I've seen are: Flogging Molly @Nova Rock 2011, The Skatalites @Arena, Vienna (Nov. 2008), The Cat Empire @Gasometer (Nov. 2011), Pennywise and Less Than Jake @Two Days A Week 2008 (and some more)

ATM I'm studying Software and Information Engineering @TU Vienna.

I like to play computer games, most notably Borderlands, Deus Ex, F.E.A.R., Half Life and I'm looking forward to Prototype.

I also like to read books, most favorite are "Demian" and "Knulp" from Hermann Hesse and HHGTTG from Douglas Adams.
